have the flames burn out of synch - Laura Nass's idea

The pair of torches that burn in perfect synchronization. Are these wooden torches or gas-fueled? They burn as though they were gas-fueled from a common gas line, so when the pressure goes up, both torches burn a bit higher... but the flames look like wood-burning flames, so each one might be good, but the two should not burn together like that. One thing you could do would be to have them burn out of synch, perhaps star one at a different point in the sequence than the other.
